LED Light Bulbs

LED bulbs are designed to fit standard bases, range from 0.85 to 7.3 watts, and are made for low light situations. In addition to low wattage, you get the bonus of long life and energy efficiency, which all adds up to a 90% savings over standard bulbs.

LED light bulbs bring a white light into a room. Unlike yellow incandescent light bulbs, the white light cast by LEDs is closer to the color temperature of daylight. Therefore, the white light of LEDs is easier on your eyes.

LED light bulbs produce about the same amount of light per watt as compact fluorescent bulbs (CFL). However, unlike incandescent bulbs and CFLs, which splash light in all directions, LED bulbs are directional. They drive their light in one direction, so that you have light exactly where you want it.

LEDs don't waste light (energy) on areas you don't need illuminated.

Benefits of LED Lighting

  • Save money on electricity - Uses only 2-10 watts of electricity (1/3rd to 1/30th of Incandescent or CFL)
  • Long lasting - up to 60,000 hour bulb life
  • Cool running (warm to the touch) - little heat compared to standard bulbs
  • Gives Off Light the Color of Daylight
  • Works with most dimmer switches
  • Instant on/off
  • Works in cold weather
  • Can sustain moderate power surges
  • Durable bulbs with no fragile filaments to break from shaking and rattling
  • Directional lighting generates less wasted light
  • Works with sensor activated lights

Daylighting Systems

Daylighting

Daylighting is the controlled admission of natural light into a space through windows to reduce or eliminate electric lighting. By using outdoor illumination, daylighting helps create a visually stimulating and productive environment for building occupants, while reducing as much as one-third of total building energy costs.

Daylighting systems use a combination of technology and architecture to transform your building into a visible illustration of energy efficiency, as well as a more sustainable, comfortable and pleasant visual environment.

Daylighting Systems

In large measure, the art and science of proper daylighting design is not so much how to provide enough daylight to an occupied space, but how to do so without any undesirable side effects. It involves more than just adding windows or skylights to a space. It is the careful balancing of heat gain and loss, glare control and variations in daylight availability. For example, successful daylighting designs will invariably pay close attention to the use of shading devices to reduce glare and excess contrast in the workspace. Additionally, window size and spacing, glass selection, the reflectance of interior finishes and the location of any interior partitions must all be evaluated.
